Why the Silver Reiver?
A day's ride to freedom
According to Wikipedia, Border reivers were raiders along the Anglo-Scottish border from the late 13th century to the beginning of the 17th century. They included both Scottish and English people, and they raided the entire border country. Totally impartial, they took what they wanted, and their rides as they termed them, were usually within a day's ride of home, across rough, intractable, terrain.
And that's insipred me to do something a bit similar - get on my bike and ride for a day across great scenery without any regard for borders - taking what I want by way of sights, sounds and experiences, camp out and then make it back. A very modern reiver. And why silver? Well, just because the URL was available and because it's a nod to my advancing years.
